Dr. Ivo Rakovac graduated with a science degree from the Technical University of Graz, Austria, where he also obtained a PhD degree in the area of health services research and medical informatics. He has extensive experience in medical informatics, epidemiology and health services research and planning at regional, national and international level. His comprehensive research experience is mostly in the area of noncommunicable diseases (NCD) and burden of disease and he has published widely in those areas, also taking the role of principal statistician in several trials. He is working for the WHO Regional Office for Europe since 2010 in progressively senior technical and managerial roles in the areas of health information and NCDs. Currently, he is Programme Manager for NCD Surveillance at the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD Office) in Moscow.
