Maria Levyova

President, Association for the Protection of Patients‘ Rights in the Slovak Republic

Dr. Maria Levyova has been chairing the Association for the Protection of Patients‘ Rights in the Slovak Republic (AOPP) since November 2016. She represents and acts on behalf of the AOPP, convenes meetings of the Board and chairs the meetings of the AOPP General Assembly. The AOPP’s mission is to protect the patient’s rights, advocate and promote the interests of patients, people with disabilities and socially disadvantaged individuals in social, health, educational, cultural and social domains. For years she has felt the need to interconnect health and social care. She has participated in negotiations at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, cooperated with organisations associating health professionals, social workers and patients. Previously Dr. Maria Levyova worked as a nurse, a head nurse and a specialised nurse since 1977 until 2017. She managed and coordinated the work of nurses and ancillary staff. Dr. Maria Levyova obtained her qualification Doctor in Philosophy in Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine of Pavel Jozef Safarik University in Kosice.
