Head of the Institute of Health Policies, Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic
Martin Smatana, MSc completed his education at the Imperial College, London, United Kingdom, where he graduated in Health Management. He worked in England as an analyst at the State Health Institute. After that he worked for over a year as an inspector of hospitals in the Central Bohemia Region. He was also a member of the Supervisory Board of the Health insurance company Vseobecna zdravotna poistovna during its recovery plan. Since 2014 she has been working at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (MoH SR) and since 2016 she has been the Head of the Institute of Health Policies, a section of the MoH SR, responsible for analytical and strategically planning and implementation of key programmes and projects. His other current posts include: Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University Hospital in Trencin and Chairman of the Categorization Committee of Specialized Medical Material of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. Martin is the (co)author of several scientific and professional publications and a member of the European Commission Social Protection Committee.
